Close to Home

My first shoot in Port! It took me all of 3 minutes to get there, it was fabulous. I have known Dena for more than 5 years and met her family last summer when we first took some photos. Cayden and Caylee (I hope those are spelled right!) are super adorable and have gotten so big since I last saw them.
Scott grew up in Port Washington and was telling everyone about the high jinks he used to get into growing up there. The Maritime Festival was going on so town was a little busier than normal but none the less, we got some great pics!

Enjoy y'all!

What a Gem!

This is Ruby! Her mom, Kerry, is a friend of a friend and fellow Alverno College Graduate. Kerry had posted a blog a couple months ago about Ruby's journey and it really hit a chord with me. Ruby was born with Tetrology of Fallot, Pulmonary Atresia, Major Aortopulmonary Collateral Arteries, and 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome. You would have never guessed that yesterday! She was a happy and curious 1 year old. We went to Cedarburg's Cedar Creek Park, it was great. Sunny but not too hot. Ruby was feeling the grass and loved watching the man mow the lawn. Enjoy your sneak peek and it was so nice to finally meet you Ruby!

Whew, it is hot!

After rescheduling our Friday afternoon shoot because the temperature was 100*, the Sunday morning family shoot was a success. Hot and buggy but a success. I cannot believe how bad the mosquitos are in DuPage, it is full on redic! Little Carson was such a trooper and we all enjoyed a little bit of the Morton Arboretum that we saw. There is an incredible show going on there now with these amazing steel "roots" by an artist named Tobin. We took advantage of the structures and the morning light to capture these fabulous shots.

Enjoy!

PS I finally got to try Lucky Sandwich Company, it was off the chain! So good. French fries and coleslaw on a sandwich. Genius! Now, I have to convince Kyle that we need to go on vaca in Pittsburgh and go to the place where sandwich heaven originates, Primanti Bros.!

Home in the Grove

After an 8 mile run, we were off to Downers Grove. Kyle, my sister Sarah, and I took all the kiddies (Chloe, Aidan, and Declan) to Brookfield Zoo. It was a madhouse! We didn't really see many animals because of all of the people and I refused to leave my stroller unattended. Regardless, we had fun spending time together. We even snuck in a mini shoot with Aidan before the mosquitos ate us alive.

Then it was off to Grandpa Jay and Grandma Ne's house. We got a sneak peek of Declan's quilt (totally, absolutely to die for cuteness!) and she made me a quilted witch. Uncle Mike and Anna were back visiting from Colorado and Declan enjoyed visiting with them.

Back home, off work today and I have a huge list of business items to get done today! I have 2 shoots this weekend to look forward to.

Declan's first experience with grass. Apparently, it is delicious.
Poor Aidan, the mosquitos already got to him!

Big Bay Bliss

Today was my first official Something Blue Images photo shoot! I was a little worried about shooting this afternoon because our sitter had to cancel yesterday so Kyle ran yesterday and I had to run today (16 miles is a long ride in the jogging stroller). So I was a tad sore but nothing could stop me from getting some great shots. I have known the Gardner-Kaspers for more than 5 years, as they are neighbors of the family I nanny for.

The weather was great, warm but not hot, sunny and fabulous. We shot at Big Bay Park in Whitefish Bay. I have driven past this place everyday for 5+ years and always thought, 'What a pretty place' but I had never stopped. Good news, it was a wonderful! There is a gorgeous bluff and a little beach at the bottom. It was so perfect for this family and their pup, Zoey.

Enjoy!

Kayla's idea...turned out great!

This is me loving this, so cute!
